How do you set up email in your website so that others receive an email when they sign up to my site?

i have set up an email account inside my cpanel, created some sub-accounts (ie admin@mydomain.com info@mydomain.com) but no one is getting confirmation emails when they sign up to my site. what else have i got to do to rectify this problem ? ? ? ? ive even tried signing up with another email address ive got and still received no email so its not the fact ive been receiving dud email addys from customers
