I need to set up email on my Macbook using Yahoo, how do I do this?
im am sorry i dont know

Can anyone tell me how to set up email alert on my computer. Thank You?

Do you mean - so that your PC will tell you when you have mail ?

Your email client (eg Outlook, or Outlook Express) may let you set this so that it plays a sound when email arrives in your inbox.

If you use Outlook use the Menu bar to go to Tools %26gt; Options %26gt; Mail Delivery and then check the "check for new mail every ?? minutes" - setting how often you want it to check - the default 10 minutes is probably a good setting to start with.

You also nee to go to Tools %26gt; Options and on the first Preferences tab, click on E-mail options and then check the "display a notification message when new mail arrives" option.

I am using Outlook 2000 so if you are using a different version there may be differences in what you see on screen.

If you use Yahoo Mail you can set alerts for new mail - visit this page to find out how - http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ya...

I don't know you can do this if you use web-based email with your ISP - visit their site and search for "mail delivery alert" and see what they say.

Good luck.

Reply:I am not sure about other email services but yahoo will NOT work.
Reply:You can't use Yahoo, MSN or many of the other free e-mail services with MS Office. Outlook is too easy to spam with. You'll have to upgrade to the paid Yahoo e-mail. Otherwise, it cannot be done.

How do I set up a Microsoft Outlook email account from my computer?

I want to be able to use Outlook to email my work papers, etc. to my general yahoo email. I'm not sure how to set it up. It keeps telling me to open POP or something. Please help!

P.S.- I have Vista, if it matters.
How do I set up a Microsoft Outlook email account from my computer?
No problem.

You just need to find out the POP3 mail server inbound and outbound server addresses. For example, if you had Comcast High Speed Internet and are using their email, then the POP3 server address (as I remember, I think) would be:

mail.comcast.net

for both in and out servers.

In Outlook, click TOOLS %26gt; EMAIL ACCOUNTS. Then click the radio button next to ADD A NEW EMAIL ACCOUNT. Then click NEXT.

In the next window, click POP3 and click NEXT.

Then type in your name (whatever you want people to see), and your email address. Also put in your user name and password that you have with your email account.

Under 'Server Information', there is the POP3 incoming mail server, and the Outgoing SMTP mail server. Boxes are empty. You will need to put in the addresses for the servers that your ISP has given you. The incoming and the outgoing mail server address may, or may not be the same. An example of a POP3 address might be: mail.comcast.net or mail.YourISP.com or pop3.YourISP.com or smtp.YourISP.com (where YourISP is the actual name of your Internet Service Provider).

Click TEST ACCOUNT SETTINGS, if available on your version of Outlook. Click NEXT and finish up.

This should be all you need to do to set up Outlook with your POP3 email server.

If you are having problems, or want more information, continue reading this article and take the infomation out of it that you may need.

Other companies have somewhat different addresses, but basically in the same format, for the most part.

The short answer to your question, would be to follow the instructions that are found here: http://support.email2pop.com/Gmail_Outlo... .

Now rather than type a whole bunch of stuff that I have just recently typed in regarding this basic question, I am going to copy and paste information about how to set up a POP3 email account with using Microsoft Outlook. I also talk about the sevices offered from Yahoo!, Hotmail, and Gmail. But you should certainly get the idea by the end of this document. Sorry there is so much information, but I hope to help others as well.

Go to your ISP's website and search for "how to set up Outlook Express", or "how to configure your POP3 account", or something like that. Perhaps http://support.webtrix.net/index.php?_m=... or http://documentation.ascinet.com/www/pri... can help you with this.

Well, I have never used Gmail until today. I have used Hotmail for over a decade. I've used Yahoo! for about a half decade.

Hotmail at one time offered free POP3 mail access. But then a few years ago they revolked that privelege. From what I know, Hotmail has not offered free POP3 maill access for quite some time.

After all, having web-only access does allow for the costs associated with your mail account by using banner advertising and click-throughs.

I would like to point out that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) usually comes with at least one free email address, usually 5 or maybe more. The only time it does not come with your ISP is if you are on a special budget type of plan. So realize that the ability to get POP3 email from your ISP is not free, since your are paying for internet access.

I have had Yahoo! Mail Plus before, and it is quite cool. You can create up to 50 other email alias addresses at any time. This is usefull for tracking and manipulating spam as well. Plus you get cool features with Yahoo! Mail Plus as well. Go to http://mailplus.mail.yahoo.com/ to learn more.

Yahoo Mail Plus is currently being offered for $19.95 a year. Overall help for Yahoo! Mail Plus can be found here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/or... .

Yahoo.

Yahoo! Mail Plus gives you external POP3 mail access. It also includes 20 megs attachments, no ads, mail forwarding, and more. You can also check your email from your mobile cell phone.

If you would like help with setting up the settings for your Yahoo! Mail Plus account on Outlook, follow the instructions that follow. You can find out more from here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/or... .

From the Tools menu, select "Email Accounts."

Select the radio button next to "Add a new email account" and click the "Next" button.

Select the radio button next to "POP3" and click the "Next" button.

Enter the following information: User Information

Your Name: Enter your name as you'd like it to appear in the "From" field of your outgoing messages.

Email Address: Enter your full Yahoo! Mail address (for example, "user@yahoo.com").

Server Information:

Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Login Information:

User Name: Enter your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com").

Password: Enter your Yahoo! password.

Do not check the box next to "Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)."

Click the "More Settings" box and select the "Outgoing Server" tab.

Check the box next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."

Click the “Advanced” tab.

Under “Incoming Server (POP3)”, check the box next to “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)". The port number in the “Incoming Server (POP3)" field should automatically change from 110 to 995. If it doesn’t, make sure the port number is set to 995.

Under “Outgoing Server (SMTP)”, check the box next to “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL). Enter port number “465” in the “Outgoing Server (SMTP)” field.

If you'd like to keep a copy of your email messages on the Yahoo! Mail server, click the "Advanced" tab. Check the box next to "Leave a copy of messages on the server." If you want to delete your messages from the Yahoo! Mail server after viewing them in Outlook, don't check the box.

Click the "OK" button.

Click the "Next" button on the Email Account Wizard, then click "Finished."

Hotmail.

You must have a Windows Live Hotmail Plus subscription in order to get POP3 email access using a Hotmail account. Once you purchase an account, here are the instructions for setting up Outlook Express:

Open Outlook Express.

On the Tools menu, click Accounts.

Click Add, and then click Mail.

Type your name, and then click Next.

Type your full Windows Live Hotmail e-mail address, and then click Next.

In the My incoming mail server is a box, select POP3.

In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server box, type pop3.live.com.

In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, type smtp.live.com, and then click Next.

Type the account name and the password for your Windows Live Hotmail account. Clear the Remember password check box unless you're the only person with access to the computer. Make sure that the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box is not selected.

Click Next, and then click Finish.

In the Internet Accounts window, on the Mail tab, click the Windows Live Hotmail account that you added, and then click Properties.

On the Advanced tab, under Server Port Numbers, in the Incoming server (POP3) box, type 995. In the Outgoing server (SMTP) box, type 25. Under both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3), select the This server requires a secure connection (SSL) check boxes, and then click OK. More information can be found here: https://account.live.com/HelpCentral.asp... .

From what I understand, some Hotmail accounts were grandfathered-in so that they still have POP3 mail access without charge.

If you would like to upgrade your Hotmail account to have access to your Hotmail email by using Outlook Express or Outlook, or any other email program supporting POP3 and SMTP mail, go to http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview .

Account information for your Windows Live or Hotmail account can be found at https://account.live.com/ .

Here you can find upgrade information for Windwos Live services: http://upgrade.msn.com/ .

Want to upgrade to Windows Live with 5 gigs of storage for free, or get a new free Hotmail account? Go to http://get.live.com/gbb .

Windows Live Hotmail Plus currently costs $19.95 USD a year which includes 10 gigs of storage, no ads, and file attachments up to 20 megs, POP3 access from Outlook and Outlook Express, and more. Check it out at http://get.live.com/mailplus/features .

Gmail.

Gmail can be found by going to http://gmail.google.com/ . Gmail is run by the Google company.

You can get Gmail on your mobile phone by going to http://gmail.com/app .

Instructions for setting up POP3 or SMTP external email access can be found here: http://support.email2pop.com/Gmail_Outlo... .

Gmail offers at least 2.5 gigs of storage it says, but it gave me an initial 5.8 gigs of storage space when I signed up.

It looks like Gmail offers free POP3 external mail access for free! I'm impressed. But before you can get POP3 mail, you must first enable it within your web browser. Go to http://gmail.google.com/support/bin/answ... for help on turning POP3 on.

Configuring Outlook Express, or many other mail programs, can be done by following the directions from the link that will be displayed inside the POP3 settings window.

So now that I have a Gmail account that allows free access to POP3, I am going to set up my Yahoo! and Hotmail accounts to automatically forward all messeges that are not spam to my Gmail account. I will have Outlook running in the background on my computer which constantly checks for new email. This way I can get all of my email from all of my accounts automatically and easily with easy notification of new emails from your Start bar.

Hope this helps.
Reply:I followed all the instructions to add my Yahoo account to my Outlook but it won't except my password. Can someone help me with this as I'm getting really frustrated? Report Abuse

Reply:You need to install Microsoft OFFICE. Under Vista, a new version of office is available. Initially a 60-day trial is available for a download. After that, it will expire if you do not buy.

You will get the outlook with the office.

To set it up, you should talk to your sys administrator or your internet service provider. They will guide you what to enter for POP account.

Good luck.

How do I set up to receive yahoo email in my Microsoft outlook program?

You can get Yahoo Mail Plus, which allows you to get POP e-mail access (basically means you can access it from Outlook). http://mailplus.mail.yahoo.com/ %26lt; go there and sign up if you really want it, it costs $20 per year. After you sign up, there should be something to help you configure the mail for Outlook. I don't believe that there's any free way to get Yahoo Mail on Outlook, sorry.
